Born in a family of generations of professional artists, I have had a passion for visual art from childhood. Growing up in a house full of finished or in-progress paintings, it was only natural for me to have the need to produce something beautiful constantly. However my artistic journey wasn’t exactly straightforward. I received some very discouraging comments in my sensitive teenage years, which resulted in a 20-year-long hiatus in drawing and painting. I turned to photography as my creative outlet instead. It wasn’t until my husband persistently encouraged me that I picked up my pencil and brush again. I learnt an easy way to break down shapes, which turned drawing into less daunting, simple-to-follow steps. From then on art-making became pure joy.
Through years of daily drawing and painting, I now paint a variety of subjects from landscapes to animals, but human forms and portraiture are my main passion. I can capture the likeness in highly realistic, meticulous oil and acrylic portraits. I have been honoured to have the opportunities to exhibit in galleries and museums around Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, UK. I am available for commission.
To share my passion for art-making with others and to bring people together through the fun and fulfilment of creative process, with the gracious help of Church of the Holy Spirit in Aylesbury, I have recently started providing art classes for both adults and children. I currently run a weekly drop-in adult art group at the cosy church cafe on Saturday mornings. I want to make painting easy and fun for everyone, because I believe art shouldn’t be challenging and intimidating. We were created with the ability to create, we should never be afraid to use it. If you want to try your hands at drawing or painting, please come along on Saturday mornings and join the fun. All levels are welcome. I also provide structured lessons on drawing and painting for children after school and during some holidays. Please contact me for further details if your child is interested.
